Starwood’s Aloft Hotel chain is on fire. Now with more than 70 properties, their first is about to open in Orlando. What makes this property fascinating is all the elements that set it apart from the others.
Aloft Orlando is not a ground up hotel or a redesign. Instead, they opted to purchase the old Orlando Utilities Commission building, gut it on the inside, and develop a property that is a bit smaller than the others. Their location is on the south end of downtown Orlando, across the street from City Hall. A block away will be the new performing arts center opening next year. A few blocks away is the Amway Center, home of the NBA Orlando Magic and many events.
The hotel will have only 118 rooms (typical Aloft is 136 rooms) though all of them will have nice views facing either east or west.
