A couple years ago I enjoyed New Year’s Eve in Orvieto, Italy. It was extraordinary, and a bit expensive, but nothing like what the Marriott Marquis is offering for this year’s New Year’s Eve.
For only $50,000, the hotel is inviting you to New York to enjoy three nights in one of their presidential suites and includes a hair and makeup stylist for New Year’s Eve. Not wanting to appear to be cheap, the price also includes daily breakfast and their New Year’s gala event. They will even pick you up and return you to the airport.
Okay, this might sound expensive to some readers but you can have as many as four people sharing the price. That brings it down to a much more reasonable $12,500 per person. Airfare and gratuities are extra.
Still a little pricey to you? Then consider another package offering. For only $6000, Marriott will put you up in a room for three nights where you can see the famous ball drop in Times Square. Those sixty seconds while the ball drops will only set you back $100/second but look at the bright side: You get a free room at the Marquis. Alternatively, book a one-night reservation on New Year’s Eve with a ball drop view for only $3,000. If you don’t mind huddling with the unwashed masses down on the ground watching the ball drop, you can still book a standard room at the Marquis for only $999 on New Year’s Eve.
Don’t need a room? Then think about their bargain New Year’s Eve party in the Broadway Lounge. You won’t get a suite, and you need to arrange for your own stylist and transportation, but you will have a nice seat to see the ball drop at a comparative discount of only $3,500 per person. If you feel the need to party with others on New Year’s Eve but seeing the ball drop is just not worth that much to you, consider their bottom line price of only $1,000 per person. That will get you into the Broadway Lounge door with what they call ‘communal’ seating. Maybe it’s just me but this sounds like hundreds of people sitting around in a circle on the floor.
Marriott believes these New Year’s deals will go fast so book early. Fortunately for you, I have plans to be in Mexico at this time so we won’t be in competition to snag the last of these lavish deals.
