Travel Gems for April 26th – 30th
Each Monday through Friday, a Travel Gem of the Day will be posted at SmartWomenTravelers.com. These Travel Gems are tips that will help a traveler travel smarter, safer, handle home issues, be prepared and enjoy their journeys.
Here are last week’s Travel Gems:
Monday April 26th – Know where to ‘go’ when you’re on the go? The Bathroom Diaries is the world’s largest database of restroom locations. There are ratings for 12000+ public bathrooms in more than 120 countries, providing a wealth of information to both travelers and urban dwellers. Add your own public bathroom experiences to keep the database growing.
Tuesday April 27th – How to travel Gluten Free: After you’ve mastered your own gluten-free eating regimen, the next big hurdle may be finding restaurants that offer gluten-free options on their menus. Fortunately, since gluten-free living is becoming more common, there are resources you can turn to. One great resource for travelers is Gluten Free Travel Site which has a database of User-Submitted Dining and Travel Reviews for gluten-free eating.
Wednesday April 28th – Wondering how your airline and hotel reward programs stack up against the competition? Head on over to Head2Head.
Program members provide insights into the features, benefits and downsides of their favorite program. Select any two programs to compare. With Head2Head, you can see how the programs stack up when looked at through the eyes of an experienced program member.
Thursday April 29th – Whether you travel with your own GPS or use a rental car’s navigation system, store your hotel information into the GPS when you first arrive at your destination. In addition to having the GPS direct you to your hotel upon arrival, each day or evening’s return trip to your hotel will be easier by quickly searching for recent history and selecting your hotel.
Friday April 30th – Keep your kids busy with great iPhone apps. Best Kids Apps is a review blog for parents who want to find the best children’s iPhone applications without slogging through the entire iTunes Store. The app reviews are written by traveling moms Jen Leo and Jamie Pearson.
Jen Leo has been the lead blogger for the Los Angeles Times Travel Blog. She is a new mom and the editor of the award-winning Sand in My Bra series from Traveler’s Tales. Find her on Twitter at @jenleo.
Jamie Pearson is a freelance writer, a mother of two, and the publisher of the popular family travel website Travel Savvy Mom.
