Contigo Giveaway – What Makes a Good Travel Mug?
U.S. residents logged 460 million person‐trips for business purposes in 2012, according to USTravel.org. On each one of the 50+ business trips I took in 2012, I always walked out my front door with my laptop bag and luggage in my right hand; and a beverage in my left hand. Always. Coffee in the morning, water in afternoons and evenings. Whether driving or flying, I always have a beverage with me.
When Contigo asked if I’d like to try their travel mugs, and to offer my readers a chance to do the same, it was an easy Yes. After all, Starbucks wouldn’t have sold over $9 billion worth of coffee products in 2012 (according to their 2012 fiscal year report) if all of you were heading off on your trips with no cup in hand.
My criteria for a coffee mug or water bottle that is travel-friendly:
- Leakproof (an absolute must as I’ve had several mugs where lids looked like they were tight until I found out otherwise on the first sip)
- Spillproof if knocked down. Who doesn’t have liquid-phobia with all the gadgets surrounding us?
- Easy to open with one hand.
- Easy to grip. No extra-large super-size cups that need a forklift to get it up to my lips.
- Keeps my coffee warm or my cold drinks cold for an extended period
- Dishwasher safe.
- Fits easily in a car’s cup holder
- Possible to fit in my laptop tote when I want to travel with my own mug or bottle.
Contigo mugs and water bottles fit all these criteria and I’ve enjoyed using both the travel mug and water bottle over the past several weeks. The days are numbered for my mugs with the worn-off lettering and questionable lids.
Contigo travel coffee mugs are insulated to keep hot beverages hot for 6 hours or cold for 18 hours. (Note: I down my coffee much faster than this so I really never tested the extent of the hot/cold timeframes). Their patented AUTOSEAL technology automatically seals the spout between sips – this I tested by turning the cup upside down and shaking.
How’d you like a chance to have your own Contigo coffee mug or water bottle?
Simply post a comment with your favorite beverage (non-alcoholic please!) that would have you turn off the road or run to the nearest airport stand for. Do this by midnight eastern time on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.
