Travel Tip: Business Card Recovery
“Whoever left their iPad at the TSA Checkpoint in Terminal C, please return to identity and claim it” was announced over the airport loudspeaker as I walked to my gate the other day.
To up the odds of getting back an item of yours that was left behind, whether at the airport, on a plane, in a taxi or even in a restaurant, always have your name on the item. Simply tape your business card to the back side of your notebook and the bottom of your laptop. This won’t stop theft but it will make it easier for left-behind items to find their way back to you.
P.S. Now that we’re in the colder season, toss a couple of your business cards in your coat pocket as well. As a Floridian, I am not used to carrying a coat so when I do the chances of me leaving it in an overhead bin on a plane are good. With a couple of cards in the pocket, the finder will assume that the coat belongs to the name on the business cards and hopefully make contact.
I’m glad I’m not the only Floridian who leaves coats in overhead bins. I’m queen of leaving them at the gate.
